Requirements to install this Release:
- a Windows based PC
- a serial-cable or Ethernet connection to a projector (m10/m15/m25)
- the complete Release package from Texas Instruments (with ALL files and subdirectories present)

The Firmware Installation Program is designed to install and verify all software upgradable
flash binaries and Disk-Chip files on the DLP Cinema(R) Interface and Processor boards
(both Series-0 and Series-1 boards), as well as the EFIB/FFIB (if present) and formatters, either modular or FPGA based. This program is capable of directly upgrading a projector FROM Release 4.0 or later TO any Release, including current and future releases.

(NOTE: The Interface-board EDID-PROM(s) have a special procedure that is still required).
(NOTE: The E2 and FIB cannot be upgraded with this program -- special equipment is required).
(NOTE: Releases prior to Release 8.0 did not include Formatter-subsystem components).
(NOTE: DLP Cinema(R) Release 13.0 and later are only supported on Series-1 boards)

A complete Release package contains a Release Installation file. This file has a name of
the format "Release*.*.dlpcinema", where "*.*" is replaced with the Release version
(e.g. "7.1" for Release 7.1). The Release Installation file contains all of the instructions
to the Firmware Installation Program for installing and verifying a single Release, as well
as information that allows the program to identify the Release that is currently installed in
a projector. The Release Installation file should be treated as a part of the Release it is
associated with and should not be modified.

An MS-Word document with detailed instructions for using the Firmware Installation Program
is provided with this package. The following is a condensed procedure...

!!NOTE!!: For projectors using Series-0 Pre-Production Processor-boards, it may be necessary
to press the "TEMP UNPROTECT" button on the Processor board during the installation !!!
Not doing so, when needed, will cause the installation to fail, and may require a projector
reset to continue normal operation or retry the installation.
[Series-0 Pre-Production Processor-boards have MSNs beginning with "0123"].
It is not necessary to press the "TEMP UNPROTECT" button for Production Processor-boards,
however doing so will have no effect.

  1) On a Windows based PC, run the "DLP Cinema(R) Firmware Installation Program"
(the appropriate version is provided in the top level of the Release directory).
  2) Connect to a DLP Cinema(R) projector via serial-port or Ethernet (the program may
prompt the user to login to the projector -- "Service" or "Root" User-ID is required).
  3) Select the Release Installation file for the Release to install/verify (this file MUST
be located within the Release directory). Beginning with Firmware Installation Program
version 3.00(15), the install program will remember the last Release Installation file
used, and will automatically load this one. If you wish to install a different release,
     select it now.
  4) Select the "Start Auto-Install" button. This will verify all components and install
any that do not match the selected release.
  5) Wait for the program to complete the operation -- a pop-up message box will indicate
the completion and status of the installation.
DO NOT RESET OR POWER-OFF THE PROJECTOR while the program is performing the
selected operation. A reset during a flash-install operation can leave the affected
board in a non-functional state, requiring factory recovery.
